About Rusty Shinault 

Born and raised in Southwest Michigan in a small rural town called Bangor, near Kalamazoo. My first exposure to Florida began with a spring break vacation during high school, which made me realize I wanted to live in the Sunshine State. I graduated high school in 1980 and moved to Lakeland, FL, in January 1981. Despite a brief 22-month stint in Redlands, CA, Lakeland has been my home ever since.

 

Extensive Customer Service Background

My professional journey started in customer service, where I gained extensive experience working for top companies such as AAA Auto Club, Watkins Motor Lines, Landspan Inc, Browning Ferris Industries (BFI), and Stericycle Inc. Over the years, I honed my skills in customer service, logistics, process development, and IT development. My roles ranged from customer care, dispatcher, and customer service manager to facility manager. In 2003 I decided to pursue a different career path where I could be my own boss and take control of my success.

 

Journey into Real Estate

In 2004, I embarked on a new adventure by enrolling in real estate school, amidst three back-to-back hurricanes. I passed the Florida Real Estate Exam on my first attempt in January 2005. Initially, my real estate career was challenging, as is often the case for new agents. However, I soon found my footing, and I started to thrive and grow my business in the Lakeland Real Estate Market. The 2008 real estate market crash was a turning point for me, leading me to become a Foreclosure Specialist. I became a trusted source for foreclosure properties, helping numerous clients navigate the tough market conditions.

 

Nineteen Years of Experience

Reflecting on my 19 years as a full-time realtor in Lakeland, FL, I can't imagine doing anything else. This career has been the most rewarding and enjoyable of my life. I have met incredible people and formed lifelong friendships. Helping buyers and sellers achieve their real estate dreams has been my passion, and I am dedicated to continuing this journey as long as I can. The flexibility and fulfillment this career provides are unmatched compared to my previous corporate roles.
